Route
The event is an off-road 10 km run through the Norfolk countryside. The route follows undulating bridle paths and woodland tracks. It begins with a short section of paved road before moving onto farm and woodland paths. A short farm track may be wet and muddy. The course includes several optional obstacles.
The route crosses the West Acre fords near the finish. A narrow walkway is available to cross them. Runners who intend to run through the fords are advised to have spare trainers and socks ready at the finish.
Facilities
A water point is located at the 5 km mark. Portable toilets are available at the Event HQ and start/finish area. Tea, coffee, squash, and a selection of cakes are provided at the finish.
Logistics
Registration and the race start/finish are located adjacent to The Stag pub. On-the-day registration opens at 09:00. Race numbers are collected from registration on the day. Parking is located off Walton Road, with access to The Stag from there. Entrants are asked not to drive into West Acre village.
There is no formal bag drop. The car park is a short distance from the start, and belongings may be left at the Event HQ at the owner's risk.
Participants
Runners with dogs are permitted and will start shortly before the main event.
Post-Race
All finishers receive a bespoke West Acre Wild Stag medal. Ten entrants chosen at random receive a spot prize. A raffle is also held; participants are encouraged to bring cash. The event's proceeds are donated to charity, specifically the Purfleet Trust. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
