Event Details
The Wesley UMC Bun Run 5K and One Mile Fun Walk takes place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in El Reno, Oklahoma. The event offers two distances: a 5K run/walk and a One Mile fun run/walk.
Course and Certification
The course starts at Wesley UMC on 101 S. Barker and winds through an El Reno historic neighborhood. It is a USATF-sanctioned and certified event.
Awards and Amenities
Awards include standard USATF age group awards and overall male and female awards. All 5K participants receive a finisher medal. All participants receive a free event shirt. A "Fancy Pants" award is given for the best-decorated running shorts in the 5K or fun run. Post-event refreshments include homemade cookies.
Beneficiary and Festival
The event is the 13th annual Bun Run. Proceeds support Wesley UMC's foreign and local mission work. Foreign missions support the Hands Together ministry in Northern Mexico. Local missions include a free teacher supply store, food pantry boxes, a bookmobile, and community repair teams. The run is held in conjunction with the El Reno Burger Day Festival, which takes place one block west. The festival features entertainment, games, rides, an antique car show, merchants, food, and the cooking of a large fried onion hamburger.
Registration and Packet Pickup
Packet pickup is available on Friday, May 1st, from 6 PM to 7 PM at Wesley UMC. Registration and packet pickup are also available on race day starting at 7:30 AM, with a fee increase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
