Welsh 1000m Short Fell Race
The Short Course covers 13 km with approximately 1550 m of ascent and finishes at Yr Wyddfa Summit. The event is part of the North Wales series and uses mountain terrain where navigational skills and significant mountain experience are required, with local knowledge beneficial.
Main registration takes place in Llanberis on race day. Competitors travel by coach from Llanberis to the start at Ogwen Cottage (GR 651601). Arrivals or registration in Ogwen on race day are not permitted. Local runners may reach the Llanberis base on foot or by cycle before boarding the coach, but competitors must register in Llanberis and use the coach to the Short Course start. Public buses to Llanberis operate from nearby towns and several public car parks in Llanberis are pay and display.
Age and entry formats are specified. Solo competitors must be over 18. Juniors over 14 may compete only as part of a pair with a parent or legal guardian. Adult pairs can run together with only one member required to meet previous experience requirements; pairs must stay together at all times. There is one cut off on the Short Course at 2.00 pm at Pen y Pass. Prizes include awards for pair categories and a mixed team prize based on the highest three results from the same team with at least one female among those three.
Entry is by pre entry only. Fees include compulsory coach travel, a souvenir race mug, GPS tracking and post race chips and hot drink. There are no early starts and no entries on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
