We Love Teachers 5K Chicago description
We Love Teachers 5K in Chicago is scheduled for October 10, 2026 at Busse Woods South in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The event is part of We ❤️ Teachers Worldwide and the National Day to Move for Education, a coordinated set of in-person and virtual events held across the United States.
The event offers a 5K chip timed race with an official race bib, national and local results access, and an opportunity to appear on a real time national leaderboard. All 5K participants receive an official event shirt and a finisher medal; shirts are handed out after the race.
Participants may dedicate their run to a specific teacher, and the designated teacher receives a digital certificate of appreciation. Schools can register teams to compete on a national School Spirit Leaderboard; virtual participants who join a school team count toward that school's national total.
Awards include overall male and female classifications, age group awards for male and female in standard youth and adult ranges, and several event awards introduced for this year: Most School Spirit, Fastest Teacher, Team Champion with a minimum team size of four, and a Legacy Award for best parent and child duo time.
