2026 Wawasee Kiwanis Sprint Triathlon

The Wawasee Kiwanis Sprint Triathlon is a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) event held at the Syracuse Community Center and Lakeside Park in northern Indiana. The race serves as a leg of the Triple Crown Triathlon Series, though it is open to all individuals and teams regardless of series participation. The competition is organized by the Wawasee Kiwanis Club, a nonprofit organization that directs proceeds to local charities and youth programs.

The event follows a standard sprint format consisting of three segments:

  • 400 m swim (1/4-mile out and back)
  • 21.7 km bike (13.5-mile course with early rolling hills and flat sections)
  • 5 km run (3.1-mile course along the north shore of Syracuse Lake)

The bike course is predominantly flat and fast, and participants are required to provide their own water during this portion. The run course features rolling hills. For the swim, USAT rules govern the use of wetsuits.

The event is open to participants aged 15 and older. Competitors can enter as individuals in age group divisions or as part of a team. All participants must use an assigned timing chip and present a photo ID at packet pickup. The transition area is restricted to athletes and is monitored for equipment security. Refreshments including water, Gatorade, and food are provided for athletes following the conclusion of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
