Waterford Viking Marathon 2026
The Waterford Viking Marathon takes place in Waterford on June 20 and 21, 2026. The event is billed as the 14th edition and the permit is pending approval. A virtual option runs from June 20 to 23, 2026.
Races run through parts of the city and surrounding countryside, with sections along the River Suir and past Mount Congreve Gardens. The route also passes castles and cobblestone streets, reflecting more than 1,100 years of local history.
Event distances and formats include:
- Full Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- Children’s Fun Run
- Disability-Friendly Run
Participants in the Full, Half, 10K and Disability-Friendly Run will receive an official Viking Marathon medal and a premium finisher t-shirt. Children in the Children’s Run receive a medal; a Viking Marathon t-shirt is available to them for €6 at registration. Only race bibs for the Full, Half and 10K will be posted to runners. T-shirts and goodie bags can be collected at the race centre on the Friday and Saturday before the event or at the finish; the race centre location will be confirmed later.
