Waterford Viking Marathon 2026
The Waterford Viking Marathon Running Festival takes place on June 20 and 21, 2026, in Waterford City and county. The festival includes several race formats across the two days and highlights local landmarks and landscapes.
Race options include:
- Full Marathon
- Full Marathon Relay
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- Virtual Marathon
- Disability Friendly Run (8.5k)
- Children’s Run
Routes pass notable local features such as the River Suir and Waterford countryside. Runners on the half and full marathon routes also pass Mount Congreve Gardens, noted for its diverse plant collections and landscaped grounds.
The Disability Friendly Run is an inclusive 8.5k event on Grattan Quay designed for participants who walk, wheel, or run. Every entrant in that event receives a finisher’s medal and a t-shirt.
The Children’s Run is a non-competitive event held at RSC on June 20. Each child receives a finisher’s medal and may purchase a commemorative t-shirt for an additional fee. Children’s Run distances:
- 200 m
- 400 m
- 800 m
- 4x100 m family relay
