Waterford Greenway Half Marathon
The Waterford Greenway Half Marathon is a road event organised by West Waterford Athletic Club. The race covers the standard half marathon distance of 13.1 miles along the former Waterford to Dungarvan railway line, which forms part of a 47 km off-road cycling and walking trail that opened in 2017.
The route follows the Greenway between Waterford and Dungarvan and has a reported net elevation change of -100 m. Race day provisions include prize-giving and refreshments near the finish area, and showers and changing facilities at Ballinroad Soccer Club.
Entries for the 2026 edition open on 1 July and are limited to 750 participants. The entry fee includes a specially commissioned Greenway dri fit t-shirt. The event is organised in conjunction with Waterford City and County Council.
The race supports the West Waterford Athletic Club Track Fund. The fund aims to develop an eight-lane running track in Dungarvan; a lease at St Augustine's College Dungarvan was signed earlier in the year as part of that project. Local sponsors for the event include Sólás Na Mara, Hickey Fabrication, Dungarvan Transport, Ifac, Coach House Coffee, Flahavans and The Railway Cottage Ballinroad.
