Washington Running Club - Bottoms Up Cup
Washington Running Club stages an annual 5 km race through the heart of Princess Anne Park in the centre of Washington. The event takes place in summer and includes a separate 1 mile fun run held before the main race. Entries for the current event opened on 4 April 2026 and close on 1 July 2026. Entry fees listed are £11 for UKA members and £13 for non members; the fun run has an on the day entry fee of £2.50.
Registration is based at St Robert of Newminster School in Fatfield, NE38 8AF, where parking is available. The course has been adjusted over the years to reduce congestion and increase speed in parts, but it still includes some hills and trail sections; road shoes are suitable because most of the route runs on pavement.
Awards include trophies for the fastest male and female in adult and over 40 categories, plus cash prizes for first, second and third places in male and female senior categories and cash for first place in male and female over 40 categories.
