13th Annual Warm Hands Warm Hearts Run
The 13th Annual Warm Hands Warm Hearts Run takes place on November 14, 2026 at Alfred H. Savage Centre in Whitemud Park, Edmonton. The event is a community fundraiser that collects warm winter items for the city’s houseless population and organizes donations into backpacks for distribution.
Distances offered include:
- 21K trail race
- 10K trail race
- 5K family run/walk, 50% dirt 50% paved
- Virtual participation option
Donations are accepted as individual items or prefilled backpacks. Typical backpack contents include a toque, mitts, scarf, socks, toiletries, feminine hygiene items and a $5 coffee card. Used items are accepted and volunteers sort and pack donations before distribution to vulnerable and houseless individuals. For safety, event participants will not hand out backpacks during the event.
Registration is required for in-person participation. Registration fees contribute to purchasing new goods to ensure consistency in backpack contents. A prestuffed backpack option is available at registration so funds can be used to buy required items.
Online donation cutoff is November 11, 2026. Physical drop-off locations are listed by the organizer, with Flow Functional Health Centre at 6915 109 St in Edmonton noted as the main donation drop point; some drop-off locations accept donations through November 16, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
