Event Overview
The Wanda Casey Mother's Day 3K is a community sports event held at Lakeview Park in Frankfort, Kentucky. The event takes place at the Hancock Pavilion and features courses set on paved surfaces throughout the park grounds. Participants can choose from several participation options including an in-person race, a dedicated children's event, and a virtual category.
Registered participants receive a commemorative t-shirt while supplies last. Mothers who participate in the event are presented with a carnation. The event also facilitates social teams, with a recognition prize awarded to the largest registered group. All proceeds from the event support the Anderson Humane Society.
Distances and Categories
The event offers the following participation formats:
- 3.1 Miles: A chip-timed run or walk on paved park paths.
- 400 Yards: A free dash for children aged 9 and under, featuring participation medals.
- Virtual 3K: A remote option allowing participants to complete the distance in their own location.
Awards and Recognition
For the 3.1 Miles race, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall. Additionally, awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in five-year and ten-year age divisions. While the children's dash does not offer performance-based awards, all young participants receive a medal for their completion of the course.
