2nd Annual Walking Miles for Smiles
Walking Miles for Smiles is a memorial fundraiser event held at Washington Township Park in Avon, Indiana. This second annual event serves as a benefit for head and neck cancer, with all proceeds donated to the SPOHNC Foundation (Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer). The race was established to honor the memory of a former foundation member and to provide support for others facing similar cancer battles.
The event features a timed 5K distance that participants can complete by running or walking. Registration is open to the general public, with a specific reduced rate available for younger participants. The organizers have set a fundraising goal of $5,000 for the upcoming edition, following a previous contribution of $4,140 to the foundation.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5k Run/Walk: A standard registration for the 5-kilometer course.
- Student Rate 5K: A discounted entry option for participants aged 5-15.
The race day schedule includes a packet pickup period on-site before the announcements and the official start of the 5K. The course is situated within Washington Township Park, and the event includes opportunities for volunteering, donations, and sponsorship.
