Walk on the Bright Side : Brighter Futures
Brighter Futures is running its second year of Walk on the Bright Side, a community event that supports parents, carers, children and young people in Jersey. The event features a 5K walk along Jersey’s promenade on Saturday 8 August 2026 and aims to create a visible River of Orange to show solidarity with local families.
Registration can be completed in advance via Race-nation or on the day. On-the-day registration takes place opposite the Elizabeth Castle Ferry Kiosk, adjacent to the public toilets in St Helier. Participation costs £10 for adults and is free for children; optional donations are welcomed for anyone who may find the adult entry fee difficult.
Participants are asked to wear bright orange. Along the route there are Sticker Stops where children receive achievement stickers for the distance they have completed. Children who do not complete the full route can turn back at a Sticker Stop and return to La Frégate to receive a completion sticker.
The event supports the work Brighter Futures carries out across Jersey, including key worker support and a range of free programmes and services for families. It is presented as a visible, family-oriented way to raise awareness and practical support for those services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
