AZ Walk of Courage
The AZ Walk of Courage takes place March 13, 2027 at Rio Vista Park in Peoria. This is the 8th annual event and proceeds benefit Changed by Fire and other local organizations. Changed by Fire is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports burn survivors, their families, and burn care professionals with programs addressing emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
Available distances include:
- 10K Run/Walk
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
- Virtual Run
The course uses the New River Trail System, with all asphalt and concrete sections, and starts and finishes at Rio Vista Park. The trail remains open to the public during the event. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Tortoise and Hare Sports in Glendale and on race day at the event venue.
Participants receive a custom event finisher's medal and a custom dri-fit tech t-shirt; selecting no shirt reduces the fee. Male and female age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group for the 10K and 5K for race day participants only. Age groups range from 8 and under through 80 and over.
There is a virtual option; virtual participants receive the medal and shirt by mail after the event and virtual registrations are limited to US addresses. Wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons are welcome. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed. Leashed pets are permitted. The event uses chip timing with real time results and photos available online and via a mobile app. Event management is provided by StartLine Racing.
