Walk for Kidney Health 5K : Buffalo Outer Harbor

The Walk for Kidney Health is a community fundraising event held at Lakeside Lawn on the Buffalo Outer Harbor. The event raises awareness of kidney disease, recognizes people affected by kidney disease, honors organ donors, and remembers those who have died. Sponsorships, team fundraising, and individual donations support the Kidney Foundation of WNY’s outreach, education, patient support, and advocacy programs. The current fundraising goal is $100,000; $8,148 has been raised so far.

The morning program includes registration, a timed 5K, presentation of 5K medals, walk welcome activities, community health resources, games, a one-mile fun walk, and a post-race celebration with light food, snacks, music, and bottled water.

Registration is available online through race day. Packet pickup takes place at Lakeside Lawn Park on race morning. Runners who register by Friday, August 21 are guaranteed an official event shirt in the requested size; a limited number of extra shirts will be distributed first-come, first-served. A virtual 5K option is offered with shirt shipping to the Continental USA.

Course and event services include a water station on course, bottled water at the finish, professional RFID timing provided by Race Management Solutions, and publicly available results via timing and event platforms. There will be free parking near the start/finish and an event parking lot with a designated entrance address.

Awards include trophies for first overall male and female 5K finishers and age group awards across standard age brackets. The organizers reserve the right to reschedule or convert the event to a virtual race for safety or other reasons; there are no refunds in such cases.
