Walk For Awareness
Walk For Awareness is organised by the Mental Awareness Foundation and takes place at Captain Burke Park in Kangaroo Point, under the Story Bridge. Now in its 16th year, the event brings people together to honour the nine lives lost to suicide each day and to walk for better mental health in Australia.
The event schedule includes morning activities and entertainment that precede the walk. Participants can choose between two route distances:
- 9 km route through Brisbane
- 5 km route through Brisbane
The route is family, wheelchair and pet friendly. Registration is listed at $35 for adults, with children aged 14 and under free. All registered participants receive a Walk for Awareness T Shirt, and there is an option to purchase a shirt for children who take part.
The event has a stated fundraising goal of $150,000 to support mental health programs. The venue address is 117 Holman Street, Kangaroo Point, QLD 4169. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
