Walk a Mile in Someone Else's Shoes RACINE
This is a fundraising walk in downtown Racine in which participants step into a pair of donated shoes and complete a one-mile loop on the sidewalk. Provided shoes may be too big, too small, or worn and uncomfortable; they are intended to represent struggles faced by people living in poverty, experiencing homelessness, or navigating life with limited resources.
The course begins at 614 Main Street in Racine and follows a one-mile loop: north to State Street, west on State to Wisconsin Avenue, south on Wisconsin to 6th Street, east on 6th to Main Street, and south on Main back to the starting location. The route stays on sidewalks through downtown Racine.
The event is associated with the Hospitality Center, which provides a space to gather and connect with essential resources. The Hospitality Center describes its mission as creating a community of hope and dignity that welcomes all, and its vision as a future where Racine cares for people in need through compassionate fellowship and the generosity of resources. The walk is presented as an interactive way to raise funds and awareness while highlighting the Hospitality Center's role in the community.
