Overview
The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk is an annual community event. The 2026 edition is the 18th annual race. It will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Events
The event features two activities:
- 5K Run – A USATF-NJ certified course that winds through Waldwick Borough Park and finishes on the Waldwick High School track.
- 1 Mile Walk – A non-competitive walking event.
Course and Features
The 5K course is certified by USATF-NJ. More than 50 inspirational signs are placed along the route for participants. The event is listed as a Grand Prix event. The race includes a 1776-themed Patriotic Costume Contest with awards for the top three most creative and patriotic outfits.
Registration and Participants
Registration is open to participants aged 7 to 90 for the 5K Run and 7 to 95 for the 1 Mile Walk. A commemorative technical t-shirt is guaranteed for those who register by April 24, 2026. The first 400 registered participants receive a goody backpack bag.
Awards
Awards are given for the 5K Run. Overall top three male and female finishers receive cash prizes and commemorative medals. Top male and female Waldwick residents receive a medal and a watch. Age category awards (top three in each bracket) are given for participants from 9-under to 75-80+. There are also prizes for breaking the course records (male: 15:17, female: 17:36).
Community Impact
A portion of the proceeds supports local causes, including Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, the Christopher Goodell Scholarship Fund, the Staff Sgt. Joseph D’Augustine Memorial Fund, the Sean Fisher Foundation, the Waldwick High School Scholarship Fund, and other community organizations. The 2025 event raised $40,000 for more than 40 local organizations. The race is dedicated to the memory of Marine SSgt. Joseph D’Augustine, Sgt. Christopher Goodell, and Marine Gunnery Sgt. Mark Hopkins.
