Wakefield Birthday Bash Road Race
The Wakefield Birthday Bash Road Race takes place on August 29, 2026, at 3rd and Dogwood in Wakefield, Kansas. The event includes a measured road race and a shorter fun run held as part of the community birthday bash.
Distances offered:
- 10K course crosses Milford Lake on HWY 82 and uses an extra wide street and paved highway.
- 1 Mile fun run follows an extra wide street and flat area.
The 10K course mixes gradual hills and open flat areas. An aid station is located at the 3.5 mile mark, and a vehicle follows runners during the 10K for assistance. The 1 Mile fun run includes a small obstacle course near the half mile mark; organizers note the possibility of a color run replacing the obstacles. Water is provided at the end of the 1 Mile run.
Awards include trophies for the top three overall finishers in the 10K and 1 Mile races, plus age-division medals for 10K finishers not receiving overall trophies. Registration opens February 17, 2026 and closes August 28, 2026; the entry fee is $20 and entries by August 28 are guaranteed a road race t-shirt. Race packets are available for pickup on August 28 and August 29. Proceeds are split evenly between Wakefield Birthday Bash general funds and Wakefield Elementary PTO.
