Wakefield Birthday Bash Road Race
The event takes place in Wakefield, Kansas at 3rd and Dogwood on August 29, 2026. It includes two running events and an organized support plan during the longer race. Registration opens February 17, 2026 and closes August 28, 2026; the stated entry fee is $20 for entries by August 28, 2026 that guarantee a road race t-shirt. Proceeds are split evenly between Wakefield Birthday Bash general funds and Wakefield Elementary PTO.
Distances
- 10K Road Race: Scenic paved highway crossing Milford Lake with gradual hills and an aid station.
- 1 Mile Fun Run: Flat course with a small obstacle near the half mile mark and water at the finish.
The 10K course begins on an extra wide street, continues on a scenic paved highway, and crosses Milford Lake on HWY 82. An aid station is located at the 3.5 mile mark and a vehicle will follow runners for assistance. The 1 Mile Fun Run begins on an extra wide street and follows flat terrain; the obstacle course location may be replaced by a color run and participants would be notified in case of that change.
Awards for the 10K include trophies for the top three overall finishers and medals for age division places excluding trophy winners. The 1 Mile Fun Run awards the top three overall finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
