About
The Vulture Vista Ultra is a timed ultra running event taking place on June 27, 2026 at DePauw Nature Park in Greencastle, Indiana. This is the third year of the event, which is built by runners on a course within a former limestone quarry.
The Course
The event uses a single 4.5 mile loop. The trail winds through the reclaimed quarry featuring tall rock walls, wooded singletrack, open trail, and views of the cliffs. Turkey vultures are often seen overhead. The loop format allows runners to pass the start/finish area each lap.
Events
Participants can choose from the following events:
- Six Hour Ultra: Run solo or as part of a 2 to 4 person relay team.
- Twelve Hour Ultra: Run solo or as part of a 2 to 4 person relay team.
- 4.5 Mile Challenge: A single-loop trail run.
In the timed ultra events, runners complete as many laps as possible within the time limit.
Event Details
The event features two aid stations stocked with ultra staples and Tailwind nutrition. The start and finish area is centralized, providing space for crew or self-support. Proceeds from the event support AKC A Kinetic Change and local high school and middle school track and cross country programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
