Vulcan's Fury Trail Race
Vulcan's Fury Trail Race takes place at Pawtuckaway State Park pavilion in Nottingham, NH. The event offers two distances:
- Half Marathon
- 5 Miler
The courses pass through former volcanic terrain and include a large boulder field, dense forest, single-track switchbacks, stream crossings, bridges, and a rocky slope known as the Devil's Staircase. The lava that formed the park has cooled, but sections of the trail remain technical and require careful foot placement.
The route has varied elevation and trail surfaces. There are three aid stations providing water and other supplies along the course. The half marathon has time cutoffs at aid station 2 (mile 7.7) and aid station 3 (mile 10); runners who do not meet those cutoffs will be given a ride back to the start and finish area.
Logistics noted by the organizer: there is no early bib pick up and there is no day of registration; bib pick up is handled on race day. Two parking lots are available at the park. The event is presented by La Sportiva. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
