2026 Vidalia Onion Run
The Vidalia Onion Run is a sanctioned event of the Vidalia Onion Festival and serves as a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Vidalia. The event takes place in downtown Vidalia, Georgia, with the start and finish lines centered around the First Baptist Church Vidalia parking lot. Participants can choose from several event distances:
- 10k
- 5k Run and Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk
The 5k and 10k courses are marked with paint, signs, and traffic cones. Runners in these distances receive chipped bibs for timing, and several timing stations are positioned along the routes. These courses also include aid stations equipped with water, fluids, and portajohns. At the finish line, fruit and electrolyte beverages are provided for participants.
Registration includes a commemorative 2026 race shirt, though size availability is based on registration date. Those who sign up for the 5k or 10k events are permitted to participate in the 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk at no extra cost.
An awards ceremony follows the races to recognize the top three male and female finishers in the overall categories for all distances. Additionally, awards are given to the top three runners in sixteen different age groups for the 5k and 10k events. Cash prizes are awarded for breaking existing course records. For the 1 Mile event, school-age finishers receive a ribbon.
The event maintains a policy regarding animals; pets are not permitted on the course or in the finish area, with the exception of service animals on a leash. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
