About the race
The Veterans Race takes place at the Buffalo & Erie Naval and Military Park in Buffalo, New York, on November 7, 2026. The event is coordinated by Destination Races and presented by Richmond Vona, with support from WNY Heroes and the park.
Distances and event types include:
- 5K for civilians and veterans or active duty.
- 10K for civilians and veterans or active duty.
- 400 m Kids "Cadet" Race for ages 2 to 8.
- 2 Mile Walk not timed shorter route than the 5K.
Registration opens July 3, 2026. Most race entries close October 23, 2026; the kids race registration closes November 5, 2026. Fees vary by event and category, for example the 5K civilian fee is $35 and the kids race fee is $10. There is no walk up or race day registration.
Race capacity is limited to 800 participants. Pre-race packet pickup is available November 6 at the Richmond Vona offices, 192 Seneca St., Buffalo, from 11:30 to 19:30. A post race gathering is planned at Southern Tier Brewing. Awards are given by age group: 5 year brackets for the 5K and 10 year brackets for the 10K.
