Veterans' Honor Run: 22 Hours of Tribute
This is the fifth annual 22 hour event held in Canton, MI to raise awareness about veteran suicide and to fundraise for organizations that provide outlets and safe spaces for veterans. The event highlights the statistic that 22 veterans are lost to suicide every day and benefits Guitars for Vets, Therapeutic Riding Inc., and Leashes of Valor.
The in-person course loops around Heritage Park on a paved path. The route was redesigned for 2026 to remove bridges for improved safety and accessibility. The terrain is mostly flat and the loop is roughly 1 mile long.
There are in-person and virtual participation options. In-person participants are chip timed and may run or walk as many loops as they wish, pausing and resuming at will. Virtual participants complete distance at their chosen location and submit tracked mileage for official credit or awards.
Registrations include an event Sport Tek CamoHex t-shirt and a sport water bottle though shirts may be limited for late registrations. A staffed aid station provides hot and cold food and beverages including water, Gatorade, coffee, soup, fruit, cheese, pizza, grilled cheese, PB&J, burgers, cookies, candies, and pretzels. Heated bathrooms are located next to the aid station and start finish area. Pacers are permitted after dark or once a participant reaches the halfway mark.
