Veterans Day Cross Country 4K Run
The Northport Running Club stages the 46th annual Veterans Day cross country event at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Golf Course, 79 Middleville Road, Northport NY. The main course is an English style cross country on grass, a 4K distance (about 2.48 miles).
The event includes multiple entry categories and a short community fun run/walk:
- 4K Cross Country race for general entrants.
- 4K Military service entry for veterans and active military.
- About 0.5K fun run/walk for Healthy People participants.
Entry fees vary by category: general preregistration is listed at $35 with a higher day of race fee; veterans, active military, and youth 13 and under have reduced entry fees; the Healthy People fun run/walk is listed as free. Processing and day of race fees are noted separately. Shirts are available to the first 250 registrants.
Post-race provisions include snacks, an award ceremony, and raffles. Cash gift card awards are listed for top male and female overall, masters, and veteran categories, plus age-group awards for the top three in multiple age brackets; awards are not duplicated. Proceeds support hospitalized and homeless veterans on Long Island, and past proceeds funded cultural events for veterans at the Northport VA Medical Center.
