Event overview
The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay takes place in Burlington, Vermont over Memorial Day Weekend 2026. The marathon and relay are scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026; youth events including the Vermont City Two Mile and Mini Marathon are scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026. Title sponsor is M&T Bank and the relay presenting sponsor is Darn Tough Vermont. Relay formats include 2-person and 3-5 person teams. A wheelchair race and a virtual marathon option are offered. Course and logistics
The course is a double loop that starts and finishes in Waterfront Park. The start line for the marathon and relay is at the north end of Waterfront Park, near the intersection of Lake Street and Penny Lane. The route runs through Burlington and along Lake Champlain, passing the Church Street Marketplace and the Burlington Bike Path, and offers views of the Adirondack Mountains. The course is described as mostly flat with some rolling hills and one larger climb at the midpoint of each loop.
