The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay
The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay takes place in Burlington, Vermont during Memorial Day Weekend 2026, with youth events on Saturday, May 23 and the marathon and relay events on Sunday, May 24. The weekend includes a Vermont City Two Mile and Mini Marathon fun runs for younger participants.
The marathon course is a double loop that runs through Burlington and along Lake Champlain. The route is described as mostly flat with some rolling hills and one larger climb at the midpoint of each loop. The course passes notable Burlington locations such as Church Street Marketplace and the Burlington Bike Path and offers views of the Adirondack Mountains. The start line for the marathon and relay is at the north end of Waterfront Park near Lake Street and Penny Lane; the youth event starts are within Waterfront Park.
The event is presented as a community effort that has taken place since 1989. The relays are presented by Darn Tough Vermont and M&T Bank is the title sponsor. A virtual marathon option is available as part of the event program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
