Vermont 100 Endurance Race

The Vermont 100 is an annual endurance event held in July that offers long-distance running over roads and trails in the southern Green Mountains. The event features two primary distances and includes a concurrent horse race, with participant totals reported as about 450 runners and 70 horses.

The course mixes country roads and forested trails and is noted for continuous rollers that add up to about 17,000 vertical feet of climbing. The event information also lists a 30 hour figure in connection with the race. The Vermont 100 describes a long history dating back to 1989 and is identified as one of America’s older 100 mile races; it is also part of the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning.

All proceeds from the event benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sport, an organization that supports people with disabilities through sports and recreation. The event program includes fundraising and volunteer roles and provides detailed race policies, aid station information, and a runner’s handbook. Logistics information covers aid stations, drop bags, crew and pacer rules, medical provisions, lodging, and directions to the start/finish area.
