Velddraf met Woorde
Velddraf met Woorde is ’n Afrikaans-themed fun run held as part of the Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees at Dornier wine estate. The event combines running and walking with a literary twist: each participant receives a unique Afrikaans word from the Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal (WAT) to use as their registration identifier rather than a conventional race number.
Participants may choose between walking, jogging or a short sprint, and there is a special 100 m WAT sprint to mark 100 years of the WAT. Entry fees range from R50 to R200. Distances offered include:
- 10 km Vastrap : entry R200
- 5 km Japtrap : entry R150
- 100 m WAT-eeuloop : entry R50
Those who already sponsored a WAT word in 2026 can use their sponsored word as their registration identifier by emailing the WAT team with their sponsorship certificate by the stated deadline and collecting the word at the WAT registration stall on event day.
