VC Hornet Hustle
The VC Hornet Hustle takes place on August 29, 2026 at Valley Center Intermediate School in Valley Center, Kansas. The event is organized by volunteers from Abilene, West, Wheatland and Valley Park Elementary schools and the VCIS PTO. All proceeds are distributed equally among the five schools.
The event program includes several distances:
- 5K Road Race
- 2 Mile Road Race
- 1 Mile Run/Walk
- 1/4 Mile Fun Run for kindergarten and 1st grade
- 50 Yard Dash for Pre-K
- No Hustle for me: T-Shirt only option
The 5K and 2-mile courses start and end at Valley Center Intermediate School and loop through the City of Valley Center; those races are timed. The 1-mile course is on VCIS school grounds and includes flat, grassy, concrete and track surfaces; families and strollers are allowed and dogs are not permitted on that course. Participant ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by a runner age 18 or older on the road courses.
Student registration is offered for participants 19 and under. Awards include medals for male and female 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in specified age groups, and participation medals for some younger divisions. Registrations submitted by August 7, 2026 are guaranteed a Hornet Hustle T-shirt. Food trucks will be present. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
