VC Hornet Hustle

VC Hornet Hustle is an annual community running event organized by Valley Center elementary schools and PTOs. It takes place on August 29, 2026 at Valley Center Intermediate School in Valley Center, Kansas. The event is volunteer-run and proceeds are distributed equally to five elementary schools.

Race options include several distances and race types:

• 5K Road Race - timed, start and finish at Valley Center Intermediate School
• 2 Mile Road Race - timed, start and finish at Valley Center Intermediate School
• 1 Mile Run/Walk - on school grounds, mixed surfaces, families and strollers welcome
• 1/4 Mile Fun Run - kindergarten and first grade only, held on the VCIS track
• 50 Yard Dash - Pre-K only, held at the VCIS football field
• No Hustle for me - T-shirt option for non-runners, food trucks on site

Registration opens May 13, 2026. Most events close registration on August 28, 2026; the No Hustle option has an earlier close date of August 19, 2026. Registrants who register by August 21, 2026 are guaranteed a Hornet Hustle T-shirt.

Age and awards information: participants aged 12 and younger on town courses must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. Student registration categories apply for those 19 and under. Medals are awarded to male and female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in specified age groups; kindergarten, first grade, and Pre-K events include placement medals plus participation medals for other participants.
