VC Hornet Hustle
The VC Hornet Hustle takes place on August 29, 2026 at Valley Center Intermediate School, 737 N Meridian Ave, Valley Center, KS. The event is organized by volunteers from local elementary school PTOs and proceeds are distributed equally to five elementary schools.
Races and youth runs on the schedule include:
- 5K
- 2 mile
- 1 mile
- 1/4 mile for kindergarten and first grade (fall 2026)
- 50 yard dash for Pre K (fall 2026)
The 5K and 2 mile courses start and finish at the school, loop through the city, and are timed events. The 1 mile course is on school grounds and includes flat, grassy, concrete and track surfaces; families and strollers are allowed on that course and dogs are not permitted. Student registration is available for participants 19 and under. For courses that run through the city, registrants 12 and younger must be accompanied on the course by an adult aged 18 or older.
Medals are awarded to male and female first, second and third place finishers in the listed age groups for each applicable race. To be guaranteed a Hornet Hustle T shirt, registrations should be submitted by August 21, 2026. Food trucks are planned for the event.
