Course and logistics
Races use part of the Vanguard Way route, a long-distance path that runs 66 miles from East Croydon to Newhaven. The half marathon is described as an out-and-back of 13.1 miles; the marathon distance is 26.2 miles. The course follows an undulating route and passes through parkland, woodland and open country. Notable features mentioned include Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve, the church of St. Mary the Virgin at Farleigh, the Nore Hill Chalk Pinnacle, sections on the North Downs reaching about 260 metres above sea level, the Greenwich Meridian, Titsey Place, a footbridge over the M25, the Greensand Ridge and views at Limpsfield.
