Using Our Voices Mental Health Run Series - North Babylon
The fourth annual Using Our Voices Mental Health Run Series in North Babylon is scheduled for April 19, 2026 at Shine Phelps Lane Park. The series is led and organized entirely by students and has grown to include participants from four school districts on Long Island.
The event raises funds to provide counseling opportunities and to support mental health organizations that work with youth. Student organizers use the series to share messages about reducing stress and anxiety, building relationships, and supporting mental and physical health through movement. The initiative also supports student civic engagement connected to the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness.
Event types include:
- 5k competitive
- Kids Fun Run for ages 10 and under
- 1 mile run or walk non competitive and untimed unified fun run
Additional event features include on-site packet pick-up on race day, participant raffles with donated items from local businesses, and awards. Custom medals are planned for the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers, plus winners in five-year age groups from 10 and under to 80 and over. Top overall finishers will receive gift cards and other prizes. The series involves multiple runs across Long Island as part of a coordinated student-led effort.
