US Road Running - Athens
The Medal Madness event in Athens, Georgia, is part of the US Road Running Race Series. This athletic event takes place at the North Oconee River Greenway Trailhead and offers multiple distances for participants. The event is open to the public; however, all participants must register through the official online platform as there is no on-site registration.
The event features the following distances:
- 5K - A single out-and-back loop totaling 3.11 miles.
- 10K - This distance requires completing the out-and-back course two times.
- Half Marathon - A 13.1-mile distance involving four laps of a specific out-and-back route.
The course has a set time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes for all participants. Runners begin the race at the North Oconee Access Road, and a parking lot is available near the starting point. Packet pickup is conducted on the morning of the event, beginning 30 minutes prior to the start and concluding 10 minutes before the race begins.
While it is not a requirement, the organizers encourage participants to wear costumes. All finishers receive a themed medal upon completing their respective distance.
