Upstate Classic
The Upstate Classic is a running event produced by ARE Event Productions in partnership with the Albany Running Exchange, staged from the Altamont Fairgrounds near Albany, New York. The event offers multiple distances and children’s races on a course that runs at the base of the Helderberg Escarpment around rural Guilderland.
Distances
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon, USATF certified loop course
- 5K out-and-back on Brandle Road using the first 1.55 miles of the longer course
- Half Mile kids race, approximately one lap of the fairgrounds track
- One Mile kids race, approximately two laps of the fairgrounds track
Course and support details are provided for participants. The half marathon requires maintaining about a 16:00 per mile pace to remain on course with a full course cut-off of 3:30. Water stops are located at approximately miles 3.20, 6.20, 8.75, and 11.10; portable toilets are available at the start/finish and at each water stop. There is no on-course water for the 5K; participants are advised to provide their own hydration devices. The course crosses railroad tracks that are inactive on weekends.
Participant services include packet pick-up at the event venue and an off-site pickup, free race photos, a post-race meal, finisher medals for the half marathon, and options to purchase commemorative gear.
