Uppingham Pool Triathlon
The event takes place at Uppingham School Sports Centre, a facility built in 2010 that includes an immaculate 25 metre pool with poolside viewing, warm changing rooms, toilets with baby changing and accessible facilities. The Event Hub, transition area and most of the run course are centrally located near the finish and spectator areas.
Race formats include:
- Sprint: 400m swim / 20km bike / 5km run
- Junior/Youth: 400m swim / 20km bike / 5km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 400m swim / 20km bike
- Sprint Aquathlon: 400m swim / 5km run
- Relay Teams: 400m swim / 20km bike / 5km run
The swim takes place in a six‑lane 25 metre pool with wave starts and lane sharing; swimmers are responsible for counting lengths. The bike is a 20 km circular on‑road route that passes surrounding villages and the Welland Viaduct; roads are not closed. The run is a multi‑lap, largely flat 5 km course on mixed pavement and grass surfaces designed for spectator viewing. There is a separate children’s aquathlon in the afternoon.
Event features include a bespoke eco medal, fully marked course, professional chip timing with online results, food and coffee vendors, an on‑site safety and medical team, and prizes for overall and age group places including aquabike and aquathlon categories. A beginners workshop with a coached swim session at the venue is planned; date to be confirmed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
