Umatilla Rim Ripper - Tollgate, OR
The Umatilla Rim Ripper is a trail running event scheduled for September 26, 2026, in Tollgate, Oregon. The event offers four course distances:
- 23-miler: 22.8 miles
- Half marathon: 13.6 miles
- 11K: 6.8 miles
- 7K: 4.5 miles
Most of each course runs on single track Umatilla Rim Trail with short sections of forest service access road. Later portions of the longer routes include a combination of paved and gravel forest access roads. Courses are marked with unique colored flagging tape at major intersections and include occasional confidence markers; runners remain responsible for navigation and are advised to study the course map.
Course traffic is mixed; the route is not closed to the public and users may encounter mountain bikers, horses, and motor vehicles on the paved road section. Runners are expected to yield to other users and exercise caution.
Total vertical gain by distance is approximately: 23-miler ~2324 ft, half marathon ~1434 ft, 11K ~691 ft, 7K ~423 ft.
Aid stations: 23-miler four stations with water, electrolytes, and fuel; half marathon two stations; 11K and 7K one station each. There is also a start/finish aid station. This is a cup-less course; runners should carry a drinking vessel and are recommended to take at least 12 oz of water. A limited number of reusable bottles will be available for purchase at the start line for cash only.
The Start/Finish is at Horseshoe Prairie off Oregon Highway 204. Parking is across the highway at Andes Prairie Snopark. Race check-in and bib pickup occur the morning of the event, starting at 7:00 am. There is a 2:00 pm course cutoff. Registrations are accepted through the Wednesday prior to the event; race day entries incur an additional fee. No refunds or transfers are offered. The event supports local school and youth sports programs and is USATF sanctioned and permitted by the Walla Walla Ranger District, Umatilla National Forest.
