UltraTrax Wintergreen
The UltraTrax Wintergreen is a mountain trek held on the slopes of the Blue Ridge in Roseland, Virginia. The course consists of a 7-mile loop through shaded single-track trails, rocky overlooks, and ridgelines with views of the surrounding valleys. Participants navigate rugged terrain within Virginia's high country.
The event offers several distance options based on the number of completed loops:
- 7-mile course (one full loop)
- 14-mile course (two full loops)
- 21-mile course (three full loops)
- 28-mile course (four full loops)
While the event is timed, it is categorized as a trek rather than a traditional race. Walkers and runners have a 10-hour time limit to complete their chosen distance. Participants have the option to carry weighted vests or rucks weighing 10, 20, or 35 lbs to earn additional recognition. Finishing the 21-mile or 28-mile distances qualifies participants for a specific medal.
All finishers receive a custom t-shirt and a velcro patch. The venue provides complimentary onsite parking. After the trek, there is a gathering at the base camp with food and refreshments. Onsite amenities at the location include a mountain coaster, zip lines, and a waterpark for spectators and participants. A portion of the event proceeds is donated to the Conservation Lands Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
