Endurance Trail Challenges at Greek Peak
UltraTrax at Greek Peak is a single-day endurance event held in Cortland, New York. Participants navigate a trail system within the Finger Lakes foothills, moving through hardwood forests, creek-cut valleys, and rolling ridgelines. The event is designed primarily for walkers, hikers, and ruckers, with an emphasis on personal endurance on a professionally timed course.
The event is based on a 7-mile loop with approximately 1,480 feet of elevation gain per lap. Participants choose their total distance by completing one or more loops within a 10-hour time limit. The terrain consists of varied surfaces, including shaded single-track trails and fire roads. Participants have the option to carry weighted rucksacks of 10, 20, or 35 pounds for an added challenge.
Available distances include:
- 7 miles (one loop)
- 14 miles (two loops)
- 21 miles (three loops)
- 28 miles (four loops)
The course is well-marked with signage and tape. A base camp is established at the trailhead, featuring food, drinks, and timing services. Those completing three or four loops earn specific recognition for the distance covered. A portion of registration fees is donated to support public land conservation.
