Oceania's Alpine Ultra-Trail
Ultra-Trail Kosciuszko by UTMB is an alpine trail running event situated in the Snowy Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia. As part of the UTMB World Series, the event takes place across a landscape characterized by granite outcrops, snow gum forests, and alpine meadows. The courses cross mountain streams and skirt crystal-clear lakes within Australia's highest mountain range.
The event offers four distinct race distances, each providing participants with Running Stones for the UTMB World Series:
- KosciMiler: A 161 km course with 4710 m of elevation gain.
- Kosci100: A 102 km course with 2881 m of elevation gain.
- Kosci50: A 50 km course with 1300 m of elevation gain.
- Kosci30: A 32 km course with 610 m of elevation gain.
Located around Thredbo, the event is designed as a trail running festival. Facilities for participants include shuttle buses, drop bag services, and designated spectator points to allow support crews to follow the progress of the runners. The terrain consists of varied, runnable trails that ascend toward the highest peaks in Australia. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
