Ultra-Trail Grizedale

Ultra-Trail Grizedale is a multi-day trail running event held at Bowkerstead Farm in Grizedale Forest, located within the Lake District. The event features two distinct races over a single weekend, utilizing wild footpaths and technical singletrack characterized by climbs and descents.

The event structure includes:

  • 8 Hour Trail Relay: A Saturday event where participants complete laps of a 7 km forest loop.
  • 22 km Trail Race: A Sunday event consisting of two laps on an 11 km forest circuit.

Participants can enter as solo runners, in pairs, or as part of a team. For the relay, teams consist of three to five members who manage their strategy to complete the most laps possible. In the Sunday trail race, individual times for pair and team members are combined to determine overall rankings.

The venue provides facilities for those staying on-site, including camping areas, hot showers, and wash-up stations. The weekend itinerary includes community activities such as talks from local athletes, music, and access to an outdoor bar and barbecue area. The routes are fully marked and marshalled, with professional live timing and medical support provided for all participants. Minimum age for entry is 16 years old. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
