About the race
Ultra-Trail Drakensberg is a trail festival held in the Southern Drakensberg that uses mountain routes in Lesotho and South Africa. The event is scheduled for April 23 to 25, 2027, with entries opening on 25 August 2026.
Courses incorporate and skirt features of the Southern Drakensberg such as Sani Pass, Twelve Apostles, Khanti Ridge, Hodgson’s Peaks, Garden Castle, Rhino Peak and Langalibalele’s Pass. The backbone of four of the five courses is the Giant's Cup Trail, located in the southern section of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, an area noted for its landscapes and San rock art.
The races listed include:
- UTD MILER pristine trail running through Lesotho and South Africa
- UTD100 100 km race in the Drakensberg
- GCU65 the five day Giant's Cup hiking trail run in a single event
- SDR36 sundowner run of 36 km
- DRJ25 Drakenberg Rock Jumper 25 km
The Race Village and host is Glencairn Farm, which provides a range of accommodation options and catered breakfast and dinner choices on race weekend. Results from past editions are available for years including 2017 through 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
