Bath 50 Ultra Challenge
The Bath 50 Ultra Challenge takes place on Saturday 20 March 2027 with Bath Racecourse as the basecamp. Routes are looped around and through the city and surrounding countryside, passing landmarks such as the Royal Crescent and sections along the River Avon. The event typically attracts around two thousand participants.
Distances offered:
- 50 km loop with approximately 1,000 m of elevation
- 29 km loop with approximately 650 m of elevation
- 10 km loop with approximately 200 m of elevation
Participants receive organised support on course. Rest stops are provided every about 12.5 km with major stops at roughly 25 km. For the 50 km route there is a picnic at 25 km and hot food at the finish; the 29 km and 10 km routes have designated snack and hot food provision as listed for each distance. Catering includes a range of snacks, drinks and options for different dietary needs. Medical staff, paramedics, podiatrists and massage teams are available at rest stops and via mobile emergency teams.
The route is fully signed with arrows and glow-sticks for night sections, and an event app offers GPS tracking and route maps. Timing scans log progress at rest stops. Transport options include shuttle buses to local stations, transfers and parking at many finish locations. Entry categories include walking, jogging or running, plus an Ultra March category for walkers and an Ultra Trailblazerz category for ambitious runners. Finishers receive a medal, a T-shirt and a glass of fizz and can download an official challenge certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
