Bath 50 Ultra Challenge : event overview
The Bath 50 Ultra Challenge is a looped trail event based at Bath Racecourse with routes that run around and through the city and nearby countryside. Routes pass landmarks such as the Royal Crescent and follow sections of the River Avon.
Distances
- 50 km : loop; 1,000 m elevation.
- 29 km : loop; 650 m elevation.
- 10 km : loop; about 200 m elevation.
The event uses a racecourse basecamp for start and finish facilities, parking, transfers and camping. Routes are fully signed with pink arrows and the organiser provides GPS tracking via a mobile app. Timing checks log progress at rest stops.
Support on route includes covered marquee rest stops approximately every 12.5 km with larger stops around 25 km. Catering includes snacks and drinks at regular stops, a picnic at the mid point for longer routes, and a hot meal for 50 km finishers. Medical teams, paramedics, podiatrists and massage therapists are available at rest stops, with a 24 hour control room and mobile emergency medical teams.
Entry categories and options include individual or team entries, a Solo Challenger start option, an Ultra March category for brisk walkers, and an Ultra Trailblazerz category for faster competitive runners.
