Uinta Wilderness Ultra
The Uinta Wilderness Ultra is an inaugural trail running event in the Uinta Mountains near Kamas, UT offering a half marathon and a Marathon+ distance. The course runs on a 13 mile loop that can be completed once or twice, making the longer option technically more than a marathon.
The route passes mountain ridges and valleys, through stands of thick pine and around mountain lakes. The full distance includes about 3,600 feet of climbing while the half includes about 1,800 feet. The course reaches a peak elevation of 9,948 feet.
Support on course varies by distance. The half marathon has two aid stations and the full has four; aid stations are stocked with fruit, salty and sweet snacks, Tailwind, water and additional supplies. Cut-off times are five hours for the half and eight hours for the full. All finishers receive a T-shirt and a finishers award.
Logistics notes: all vehicles using the start/finish area must have a Mirror Lake Highway pass for parking or camping; the pass costs $10 and can be purchased through recreation.gov sitepass 74405. Much of the race uses trails that normally allow ATVs, but the Forest Service will close those trails to ATV use for the event. Registration closes Wed, Aug 19 at 11:59 PM MT.
