Event Overview
The UConn Health Half Marathon is a long-time race tradition on Iron Horse Boulevard. The event also includes 10K and 5K race distance options. A kids run is available for children ages 2-11, with distances of a ¼ mile, ½ mile, or 1 mile.
Course and Location
The half marathon course is a two-loop, 13.1-mile route. It runs along the Farmington River and local farmlands in Simsbury. The course is described as picturesque.
Registration and Perks
All participants in the race distances earn a short-sleeve technical race shirt and a custom finisher medal. The event sold out in 2025. An optional free membership program (HMF Milestone) offers perks like access to member-only waitlists for sold-out events and personalized bibs. An enhanced, fee-based membership level offers additional benefits like member apparel.
Challenges and Series
The event is part of several multi-race challenges. The 5K Challenge and 10K Challenge involve running three unique 5K or 10K courses at different events (Middletown in April, this event in June, and Old Wethersfield in August) to earn a commemorative medal. The Connecticut Double challenge involves running the UConn Health Half Marathon and the Eversource Hartford Marathon in October to earn an exclusive commemorative medal.
Community and Charity
A community engagement program allows participants to select and support a charity partner. A food donation drive supports a local high school food pantry program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
