TXFallenPD Tribute Event : Highland Village, Texas
The TXFallenPD Tribute Event is a community fundraiser held at Doubletree Ranch Park in Highland Village. The event supports the Texas Police Chiefs Association Fallen Officer Fund and began in 2008 as a police bike race; honoring officers who died in the line of duty remains central to the event.
Event activities include a 5K run, civilian and first responder bike rides, and a kid ride with a cop. The public festival atmosphere includes vendors, live music, yard games, a kid zone, food, and drinks. Since 2008 the event has raised over $500,000 for the Fallen Officer Fund and has a stated fundraising goal of $50,000 for the current year.
Course and format details provided by the organizer note that the 5K is USATF certified and chip timed, and is mostly on level, paved sidewalks and streets along the Inland Trail System. The bike rides are chip timed and are approximately 8.5 miles on the Inland Trail System; a portion of the bike course runs on neighborhood streets. Start and finish for the listed events are at Doubletree Ranch Park. One bike entry is designated for first responders only; registrants for that entry are asked to provide agency affiliation.
