Turkey Vulture Stretch 5K

The Turkey Vulture Stretch is a running event held in the town of Ely, Nevada. The race is organized to coincide with the annual return of turkey vultures to the region following their winter migration to South America. The event serves as a celebration of the arrival of spring and these specific birds.

The course for this event is staged at Steptoe Park. The route follows a loop through local streets, including Avenue K, E 13th Street, E. Madison Ave, and California Ave. The path takes participants past the Ely Cemetery, a location where turkey vultures are frequently spotted in the trees. Because the course is not closed to vehicle traffic, all participants are required to run on the left side of the road against traffic.
