Turkey Trot and Fun Run
The Turkey Trot and Fun Run is a community athletic event held in Topeka, Kansas. Scheduled for late November to mark the start of Thanksgiving break, the event is organized through a collaboration of Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) from all elementary schools within the USD437 district. The proceeds from the event are shared equally among these participating schools.
The event features two primary distance options:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Fun Run (shorter distance)
Participants are welcome to complete the 5K course by walking, running, skipping, hopping, or rolling. This inclusive approach ensures that the event is accessible to community members with different movement preferences. Special entry categories are available for USD437 staff and students, alongside a general community entry option.
Beyond the main running events, attendees can access local food trucks on-site. The schedule also features a school mascot race where various mascots compete after the main runs are underway.
