The Skyline Scramble - Topeka, KS
The Skyline Scramble is a trail endurance event at Skyline Park in Topeka with multiple timed formats and a kids race. The course is a rugged, wooded single loop of approximately 2.15 miles featuring rocks, roots, boardwalks and the highest point at Burnett’s Mound. Each loop includes about 250 feet of elevation gain.
Race formats include:
- 12 hour individual and 12 hour team relay
- 6 hour
- 3 hour
- 2.15 mile kids race
In the timed events runners repeatedly complete the same loop within a fixed time window; winners are determined by the number of complete loops finished in that window. The 12 hour team relay is teams of three who share one bib and combine loops; each team member must complete at least one loop. Team captains receive a team management link by email to add or remove members and update team details.
The kids race is for grades K through 8, divided into elementary and middle school divisions, and uses one full 2.15 mile loop. Course monitors will be present and parents or guardians may run with their child. Parents or guardians must sign an in person release waiver at packet pickup to receive a child’s bib.
Logistics notes: online registration closes March 4, 2027. Early packet pickup is the Friday before the event at Fleet Feet, with race day packet pickup at Skyline Park. Minimum age for the 3 hour, 6 hour, 12 hour and relay events is 14 years; minors require an in person guardian waiver. Crew may assist only at the start finish aid station. Participants who cut the trail or litter will be disqualified. Drop bags and limited canopy space will be available at the start finish area. All finishers receive a finisher award and a race t shirt; podium awards are presented in multiple divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
