The Skyline Scramble : Topeka, KS
The Skyline Scramble is a trail endurance event held in Skyline Park, Topeka, Kansas, on March 6, 2027. The event uses a single 2.15 mile loop through the wooded south summit of Skyline Park. The loop includes rocks, roots, boardwalks, and reaches the highest point on Burnett’s Mound. Each loop has about 250 feet of elevation gain.
Event formats
- 12 hour race
- 12 hour team relay teams of three share one bib; all three members must complete at least one loop
- 6 hour race
- 3 hour race
- 2 mile kids race for grades K–8, one full 2.15 mile loop, two age divisions
Race format and scoring are based on completing as many full loops as possible within the chosen time window. The competitor or team with the most complete loops in their time window ranks highest. Chip timing may or may not be used; runners should be prepared to report to the timing or aid station when requested.
Registration and logistics Online registration closes in early March 2027. Early packet pickup is available the day before at Fleet Feet, 2130 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. Race day packet pickup and check in occur at Skyline Park. Parking is available via the access road with closer spots for 12 hour participants.
Rules and services Crew and family may assist only at the start/finish aid station; no crew on course. Trekking poles are allowed. Participants can leave personal aid in a designated start/finish area. Minimum age for the 3 hour, 6 hour, 12 hour, and relay events is 14 with a parent or guardian waiver required in person for minors. Littering, trail cutting, or providing assistance off the start/finish area can result in disqualification. If the event is canceled for severe weather or other uncontrollable circumstances, refunds are generally not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
