Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Swansboro, NC
The Tunnel to Towers 5K in Swansboro is a community run and walk held on 09/19/2026 at 830 Main Street Extension, Swansboro, NC. The event honors those lost on 9/11 and supports first responders and military through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This is the sixth year the event is held in Swansboro.
The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles). The event offers both in-person and virtual participation. Registration categories and standard fees include adult, first responders and military, youth (13 to 17 years), child (12 and under), and a virtual run. Registration fees do not count toward individual fundraising goals.
Packet pickup is available the evening before and the morning of the event; shirt sizes are not guaranteed and shirts are distributed first come, first served. Virtual participants are not eligible to receive shirts. Bibs must be worn on the front of the outermost garment because the bib contains the timing chip.
Awards include medals for top finishers in several age, gender, and group categories, plus a Tunnel to Towers finisher medal for all who complete the course. There will be three water stations on the route and water, fruit, and snacks at the finish. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted on course, and firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are allowed. An on-site Emergency Medical Service team will be available with radio communication along the course. Registration transfers are permitted; refunds are not provided.
