Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Central NY
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Utica is a community 5K event held at the Utica 9/11 Memorial near Sherman Drive and Memorial Parkway. The course proceeds from the memorial west over the Parkway to Oneida Street, then north on Oneida to Genesee Street and continues to a downtown finish area. The event includes opening ceremonies with guest speakers, live entertainment, food trucks, children's activities, vendors and a closing ceremony with awards.
Registration offers in-person and virtual options. Category fees in the source listing include adult, first responder and military, youth, and child rates. Virtual participants can run or walk from any location and receive an event shirt that must be picked up at scheduled packet pickup; shipping is not provided by default.
Packet pickup is handled before race day at a local store and race day pickup is available near the finish area. On-site registration is available the morning of the event and will be paperless, requiring a phone and credit card for payment. Shuttle buses will run from the finish area to the start before the event only; no post-event shuttles will be provided.
Safety and event services include a water station on course, water at the finish, Emergency Medical Services coverage and radio spotters. Strollers, wheelchairs, firefighter turnouts and military backpacks are permitted. Bibs must be displayed on the front of outer garments. Awards recognize competitors in turnout gear or uniform, overall finishers, age groups and group fundraising efforts. Donations and fundraising are accepted after the event for a limited period and fundraising incentives are offered through October 2026.
