Trot in the Trees 5K Trail Race and Fun Run
Trot in the Trees takes place on October 4, 2026 at Tibbetts Field in Madbury, New Hampshire. The event is organized by the Oyster River Youth Association, Durham Parks & Recreation, and the Madbury Recreation Commission.
The main course is a 5K trail that winds through local trails around Tibbetts Field and includes a two-mile loop through Powder Major Forest. The route uses natural terrain and features roots, mud, fallen leaves and a hay-bale hurdle. A one-mile Fun Run follows a shorter trail course designed to give youth runners a trail running experience.

Registration options include pre-registration and in-person registration on the morning of the event. Fees vary by age category and by registration period, with separate pricing for early bird, regular, and race-day registration. The ORYA Cross Country program has a separate entry category that uses a special code. Race shirts will be provided to the first 75 registered 5K participants.
A portion of this year’s race proceeds will be donated to a remaining Long family member through an established GoFundMe, with community support noted from the Friends of the Long Family and local emergency services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
