Trot in the Trees 5K Trail Race and Fun Run
Trot in the Trees takes place on October 4, 2026 at Tibbetts Field in Madbury, New Hampshire. The event is organized by the Oyster River Youth Association, Durham Parks & Recreation, and the Madbury Recreation Commission.
The 5 km trail course winds through local trails around Tibbetts Field and includes a two mile loop through Powder Major Forest. The route crosses natural terrain with roots, mud, fall leaves and a hay-bale hurdle. The 1 mile Fun Run uses a shorter trail route intended to give younger participants a real trail running experience.

Registration is available both before the event and in person on the morning of the race. Fees vary by age group and registration period; published amounts include early adult entry at $25 and regular adult entry at $35, with youth fees commonly listed at $15 and race-day youth fees listed at $20. Race-day 5 km entry is listed at $40. Race shirts will be provided to the first 75 5K registrants. A portion of this year’s proceeds will be donated to a remaining Long family member via a GoFundMe organized by Friends of The Long Family and supported by the Lee Fire Department and others.
