Tröegs Rugged Trail 5k Run for Conservation

The Tröegs Rugged Trail Run for Conservation is an annual fundraiser held at the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Arts in Millersburg, Pennsylvania. This event supports the maintenance of the center's land and trail system, which spans over 500 acres of woodland. The property includes nine miles of trails, a bridge over Wiconisco Creek, and several art galleries.

Participants can choose between two distinct routes:

  • 3.1 Miles (HopBack Trail) - A walker-friendly route that follows Wiconisco Creek, passes through a rail trail, and crosses through the Nature Discovery Play Area.
  • 3.1 Miles (Rugged Trail) - A course featuring a 700-foot elevation climb through the woods of Berry Mountain, designed with steeper terrain.

The event includes an after-party at the DeSoto Amphitheater with live music, food, and a basket raffle. Registered participants receive a race shirt, a pizza token, and a drink token for either beer or root beer. While the Ned Smith Center is pet-friendly, dogs are not permitted to participate in the race itself; however, they may remain at the finish line or with spectators along the trails. Awards are presented to top male and female finishers overall, as well as winners in specific age categories ranging from 19 and under to 60 and over.
