Tröegs Rugged Trail 5K Run for Conservation
On September 19, 2026 the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art in Millersburg, PA hosts the Tröegs Rugged Trail 5K Run for Conservation. Proceeds support the Ned Smith Center's land and trails system.
Two route options are offered:
- HopBack Trail (Beginner) - 3.1 Miles
- Rugged Trail - 3.1 Miles
The HopBack Trail is walker friendly and follows the Wiconisco Creek, passes along a rail trail, crosses the creek, and goes through the Nature Discovery Play Area. The Rugged Trail includes a 700 ft elevation climb through the woods of Berry Mountain and contains steeper, more varied terrain.
The Ned Smith Center property includes more than 500 acres and over 9 miles of trails, a scenic bridge over Wiconisco Creek, a children’s natural play area, three rotating art galleries, a gift shop, and educational programming. Volunteers will be positioned along the routes to guide participants and assist in case of emergency.
After the races there is a post race party with live music, a basket raffle, food and drink, and vendors. Tröegs Brewing Company provides a featured beer for the event, including a limited edition Rugged Trail Ale while supplies last.
Registration details include an early bird rate of $45 for ages 13+ through April 30, 2026, rising to $50 on May 1, and a day of registration price. Registration includes a race shirt, a pizza token, a Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale token, and a SWAG bag. Shirt size requests are guaranteed only if registered by August 16, 2026. Dogs may attend as spectators but are not permitted to run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
